I've been getting tons of emails & PM's regarding my sources for the info put on this blog. I have inside sources within the Journey camp for starters who confirm bits here & there as well as my own insight from the times I have hung with the band, backstage or personally. One thing I can verify is none of it is coming directly from JSS himself as he reveals nothing to anyone, believe me, I've tried! It's no revelation he & I are friends & I have been in direct contact with other bandmates who have no problems revealing insights at any given time.
In the meantime, I spoke to a buddy who got this new bit of information. Journey management met recently with a major label who were VERY interested in signing them BECAUSE of JSS & all the excitement generated with fans & critcs alike, to their amazement they learn that Jeff was dismissed. Just how smart is this organization? So the queation begs...

There is absolutely "NO WAY" they get a record deal now. I will be EXTREMELY surprised if they do! They will tour behind the dirty dozen until they get so old that Neal and Jon have to be admitted to a nursing home.

I believe they can get any deal they really want to get. How many times have they said that not being under contract is a good thing? But how many times is it reported that they are talking to people about a record deal? Maybe they dumped JSS so they wouldn't be under contract for any new music. Maybe they really do want a new album, but nothing out of the mold, and would take much less $$$ to do it.
Prediction. They'll grab some singer (resume'd or new), they'll make a couple of new demos or another EP, and then it'll get shopped around to see what the level of interest is. In the meantime, they'll do the GH thing on the corndog circuit or on the coattails of a big draw name. Then in a couple of years we may see new music - typical Journey/no new direction - or they'll get yet another new singer do the same old song and dance again. Maybe they'll finally have grown tired of all the crap and will just let Journey fade out.

Honestly! I am ashamed of anyone that would say all this crap on here to Carl, you people have no idea what "service" means!
Its not just packing up a back pack and heading over seas to play war.
Service people pay taxes, usually more than most BECAUSE they cannot hide their federal income in any shape or form! and unlike most people their education and training never ends, its constant so service people in general have advanced education that most do not.
Can anyone just join up and do this? NO! you have to qualify and you have to have committment, honor, discipline, and something that the general American population seems to have lost=PATRIOTISM!
When someone is the Air Force, Marines, Army, or Navy you are saying good bye to family for months and months at a time. Try being a wife of one of these people and not getting to talk to them, not know if they are safe at night, having blind faith and trust. Not to mention all the advantages and things people get to do in America while these guys are on foreign soil.
These posts on here make me physically ill, what has become of my Journey? its been reduced to rubble.

You are absolutely right, whoever you may be. There's no way I would take a bullet here at home unless I got caught in the middle of a drive-by-gone-wrong.
However, where I am going in August is a different story. The base i will be going to in August is the MOST heavil attacked base in the Iraq region due to it being a major forward supply point. When I was there in 2004, we averaged 4-5 mortar/rocket attacks per day. Out on the ramp where our jets are parked, we would et hit 2-3 times a day and, surprisingly, no jets were ever damaged... but folks got hurt.
On Sep 11, 2004, a 120mm Rocket buzzed over my head and hit 50 yards from where I was standing. Sadly, this rocket hit in VERY close proximity to a young security forces member that was at our base in transit, awaiting a ride home to the states.
Now, for me, it wasn't so bad. Believe what you want but I will tell you this: On impact, I turned, ducked and got behind a barricade. Right after the inial dust settled, i came out of hiding to find a chunk of shrapnel about 6' in diameter lodged in the barricade I was behind. Scary thing is, that shrapnel hit the barricade BEFORE I moved behind it and, if I were about a foot to the left on impact, it would've hit me square in the chest. I had my 35lbs flak vest on, mind you, but I still woulda been pretty messed up.
As for the young SF airman? After numerous folks held his guts in until paramedics could respond, he finally went home to his new wife missing both of his legs, his right arm and all use of his remaining facilities from the waist down...
I haven't shared that story in a long time because I'd rather forget it. But since you want to make it sound like I am just an office hound and not someone to worry about or could be in harm's way, I figured I'd clue you in.

I don't think Journey will get that record deal now. Firing JSS has put them in the position of having that deal retracted. I do wish Jeff would get a contract here. He is deserving of the offer.

This is an intermediate diary entry, between the European dates and going to Brazil in a few weeks time. It was prompted by events that occurred while I was on tour with another band I (and Jamie) am involved with – Last Autumns Dream. This entry is therefore divided in 2 parts, namely the trip to Japan, and the WTF!
WTF! A week ago I received the e-mail from Jeff with the message of his termination. It wasn't a total surprise, as I will explain. But it was still a massive WTF! moment.
Ok, I am back home, body and mind starting to synchronize yet again. I just can't hold back anymore…I know that Jeff has signed a confidentiality agreement - I totally expect him to sugarcoat everything he says to any media – but I have not. And everyone who knows me expects me to say it how it is, so get ready.
Jeff had told us early on in the tour, like the first day really, about how he was concerned about what was going on with Journey, that there was some unspecified dissatisfaction with him coming mainly from Neal Schon, and that he couldn't get an answer from anybody in the band or from management what it was about. We all told him not to worry, it was a weekend, they would tell him something soon. After the weekend there was a rumour on the internet about Jeff getting fired. Management responded to inquiries from Jeff about that, telling Jeff to cool it and don't do anything,
it was just Neal being Neal and that it would blow over. But I could see the agony was still there, the band themselves were still not returning any calls. The thing was, Jeff was doing this farewell tour with Talisman so he could lay this part of his past to rest, before moving on to further commit to his new job with Journey. This mean't being away in Europe, feeling isolated from what was going on back home, that alone should have prompted reasoning adults to respond to messages or questions … WTF! Great reward for Jeff's loyalty and commitment…
Well, I know Jeff expected to come home to have a sitdown with Neal and management to discuss and sort out whatever issues or misconceptions. Instead this happened: we'd done a highly emotional show at Sweden Rock, we were all feeling good about the reception…and backstage at the Aerosmith show Jeff meets the singer for another band that have the same management as Journey. This guy steps up and says to the effect "Hi Jeff, so sorry to hear the news about your departure from Journey"! Talk about a letdown!
Ok. Let me stop here in my narrative and tell you what I think of Azoff and friends, the so called Journey management. They tell other artists on their roster before they tell Jeff about the termination – confidentiality breach anyone ? Keeping band business under wraps ? When the rumours started they told Jeff it would blow over if he would cool it and not be so active on the internet etc. which in retrospect is of course lies and very manipulative. They allow their clients Schon & Cain (aka Frick&Frack, love the ridicule they get on for example melodicrock.com) to send out press statements that are just plain dumb. Noone with management is watching out for the trademark "Journey" it seems.
How is it that they accept their clients idea of choosing a cover band singer ( haven't heard the guy, he may be the shit for all I care) when they had Jeff come in and breathe new life into a band that was floundering ? And WTF, they terminate Jeff, send out a moronic press statement, delete Jeff's image from the website and his participation from the bio…and immediately put on top of their news section a 3 times as long as the termination press statement a NEW press statement where they brag about how they got a song on the Sopranos! They usually update the news on the website what, once a month or less ?
Everything Azoff & friends have done in this situation reeks…makes me wonder what the scene with the other Azoff artist was all about, they wanted him to be the axeman, or lay some foundation so Jeff wouldn't cause some sort of embarrassing scene when they had to place the call ? What makes me even more nauseous however are the malicious rumours that I've seen.
I wonder who is behind those, the common creeps out there, or somebody more "connnected"? I swear, Jeff hasn't said or done a single thing that doesn't rhyme with his intentions of loyalty and commitment to working with Neal, Jonathan, Dean, and Ross. He's the kind of guy that would have stepped down, worked it out so everybody came out smelling of roses – but he simply hasn't been given the chance. WTF! When Jeff told me about the situation I thought "very immature people" but I never expected F&F to really go through with it. WTF!
Jeff's been my brother for a long time. I hurt almost as bad as he does. I feel very strongly that he's been used and wrongfully dismissed, no warning, no second chance, for no proper reason given other than that Journey now wants to use a cover band singer. How sad, screwing Jeff for that…

Why would Jeff sign a confidentiallity agreement if he was really upset with the band? He must have gotten a grand payoff, enough cash to shut him up. Why sign something that says you can't talk about it, if you're the good guy? If you really have an axe to grind, refuse the cash and write a decent press release.
I think this whole story is one complete load of English manure.

Anyone who has ever had to sign one for a job or a client knows that it's upfront. Sign or u can't have the job. That's standard business practice.
I see someone has already confirmed but yes, MJ is Marcel Jacob, bass player with Talisman - simply feeling I would surmise he had to state what he feels Jeff can't, or won't.
Marcel's post also corroborates a lot that has been said in unofficial forums and discussion.
Just to get back a little on topic re. the 'record deal' thread, the little interviews that Schon and valory did just prior to their UK dates with JSS did also produce a summary of 'immediate future' inc. the fact that they were considering doing a re-working of the hits in the studio with JSS.
An obvious for-the-fans move, or c.v. for bigger recod deal? You can see reasoning for both.
Oh and for what it's worth, re 'Gold' status for Arrival - that album only made #56 in the American Billboard 200, and - according to some Billboard calculations - has shipped about 186,000 total units in the States, probably quarter million worldwide.
Generations produced a significantly diminishing return.
Just when you think its safe to say 'Evolution' are undoubtedly the ultimate Journey covers band (particularly if it's imminent that Frontiers are going to be without a lead singer), featuring sound-a-like and look-a-like Hugo on Perryesque vocals, it turns out the ultimate & official J cover band is actually:
Journey themselves.

Isn't the Confidentiality Agreement pretty much a useless clause, at this point, considering Jeff appaerntly still has no idea why he was let go??? Aside from what already has been said, as far as how all this went down, what could Jeff possibly say publically on the situation if even HE isn't being told anything??? I guess the ONLY thing right now that this agreement could be keeping Jeff 'hush' on is the TRUTH about the entire TG saga. Most companies now ask you to resign your conf/non-disclo every year on your anniversary. That way nothing can be argued that it was outdated or signed under different circumstances such as being in a previous position or under a manager that's no longer there.
When severance is involved, usually the conf/non-disclo is brought out again as a reminder and you are asked to re-sign and re-date. This must happen before any settlement is made. Also, there's usually a legal waiver signed that states the matter is final and you will not seek court action.
It's as simple as this. Agree to do what they say, or no cash. Looks like Soto took the deal. Interesting.

So this implies that #1 Dean knows what happens and is trying to derail us to Neal and Jon. #2, Jeff is less the person we think he is. When/if you give some facts, I might believe your post. They better be hard, proven facts. If your post is true, I will be disappointed in yet another "rockstar" and Dean as well for leading the sheep to wolves. Until then, produce facts or dont post. Right now, Dean and Marcel are the only two with facts that are accurate since Jeff cannot talk.

Hello everyone. This is Steve Perry. As you are aware I have yet to launch my own web site and Fan Asylum is still the only credible site for official statements from me. Once again they have kindly allowed me to post this statement. It has been brought to my attention that there is a rumor circulating that I am reuniting with Journey.
